Materials & Care
We are committed to providing high-quality jewelry crafted from durable materials. To ensure that your jewelry remains as beautiful as the day you received it, we recommend following our materials and care guide.

Materials
Brass
Brass has been treasured in jewelry for centuries, and for good reason. This warm golden metal offers the rich look of gold at a much more accessible price, making it a wonderful choice for beautiful, everyday pieces.
Brass is durable, lightweight, and comfortable to wear. It develops a soft natural patina over time that adds character and vintage charm, though it can also be gently polished to restore its original glow if desired. Because it is an alloy primarily made of copper and zinc, brass is also nickel-free in most cases, making it a good option for many people with sensitive skin.
For those who love timeless style without the cost of precious metals, brass offers a perfect balance of beauty, longevity, and affordability. With proper care, brass jewelry can be enjoyed for many years while maintaining its distinctive antique-inspired appeal.
Sterling Silver
Although the majority of our items are crafted from stainless steel, we have carefully selected a few pieces to be made from 925 Sterling Silver, given its widespread popularity.
Sterling silver is a harder material than gold and provides long-lasting durability to jewellery pieces. Most silver jewellery is combined with other metals, such as copper, zinc or tin, and has a coating of rhodium to inhibit tarnishing. The inclusion of stronger metals makes silver jewellery resistant to scratching and wear.
Silver jewelry can be worn every day, and will last forever if treated with enough care. However, you should avoid scratching silver pieces against hard surfaces, and clean them with warm soapy water if you spot any tarnishing.

Jewelry Care
By following the below steps you can ensure your Papillion Era pieces stay long lasting.
-
Avoid Vigorous Activities
Take off your jewelry before doing any vigorous activities that could pull or catch on your items. Consider taking off larger/ heavier pieces before sleeping or sports just to be safe.
-
Regular Cleaning
Remove dirt and oils by cleaning your pieces with a soft cloth. For sterling silver, use a silver cleaning solution or Sunshine Brand polishing cloth.
-
Avoid Harsh Chemicals
Try to avoid exposing your jewelry to harsh chemicals, such as bleach or chlorine, which can damage its finish.
-
Storage
Always store your jewelry in a dry and clean place when not in use. Consider using a jewelry box or place them in your Papillion Era gift box to prevent scratches and tangling.
